I wanted to portray the idea of the cyclical nature of life with this piece. Basically, that when humans move on, life will continue. Not only are humans not the center of life, but also that life will thrive and change in our absence. I'm struggling a bit with drawing a line with this project between being too pessimistic and too optimistic. Humanity and beautiful in it's own right, and things won't necessarily be "better" when we are gone, but what's important is that we shouldn't center ourselves in the ecosystem that is Earth. I'm going to try to show a more melancholy take with this project because of this balance.

Basically, my idea is to have this video in a first person POV. I want the viewer to first be speaking to a fortune teller (I'm going to set up a small set in my room and film this with a friend), and then they ask about their future. The fortune teller tells them to hold their hand or look into a crystal ball (one of the two depending on available props) and then it would cut to the dream like sequence.

For this sequence, I planned to illustrate a background of a city covered in plants, partially ruined. I'll animate some animals, butterflies, etc. Then, the viewer will pull a newspaper from an old newspaper box and read that the world had "ended", thus explaining the state of the city. I'm debating on this part, as it may be a bit too morbid, but then the viewer finds their own skeleton. They don't know until they reach down to hold the arm of the skeleton, showing their forearm as well as the skeletons sharing the same scar.

Then, the viewer wakes up back in the room with the fortune teller. I'm going to have to workshop what the fortune teller says after this, as I'm not too sure.

Here's the storyboard for this project:
